Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by telephone between the hours of 10:30 to 11:30 Monday to Friday; at the desk during surgery hours; faxed to the surgery; posted; or ordered online via the link at the top of this page.
If you wish to use the online system please contact the surgery for details of how to register for this service or CLICK HERE for further information.
The order papers can also be left in the prescriptions box in the waiting room or handed over the counter.
When ordering repeat prescriptions please ensure that you only ask for precisely what you need - many patients tell us that they need ‘everything’ on their repeat prescription list when this is often not the case. We frequently go into patient’s houses, or sometimes after patients have died, to find vast quantities of medication stockpiled. This is a huge waste of very limited NHS Resources. In North Derbyshire alone, over £1 million of drugs are wasted each year in this way.
Prescriptions or medication can be picked up at the surgery during opening hours or arrangements can be made for prescriptions to go direct to local chemists on a regular basis.
Please be aware that 48 hours' notice is required for us to process prescriptions. This time does not include bank holidays or weekends. If your medication review date has lapsed, processing time may be significantly longer.
We offer the facility to pay by debit card. There is no additional charge for payment for NHS prescriptions but a small processing charge to cover our costs of 50p per transaction for any other transactions e.g. private prescriptions or other services.
We are a dispensing practice and are able to provide this service for people who live more than one mile from a pharmacy.
This does not, however, prevent you from using a chemist, but provides the added facility of using the surgery dispensary. If you wish, prescriptions can be sent direct to Boots or Lloyds chemist.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
