Mrs Sara Land (f)

Community Matron

The community matron post was established in April 2006 and is a role which was introduced by the Government to recognise and help those patients with long-term illnesses.

Sara is the named nurse for a number of patients and their carers who have more than one long-term illness. The aim is to help these patients manage their conditions more effectively and prevent regular admissions to Hospital.

Sara trained at the Middlesex Hospital in London, qualifying in 1982. She is SRN RM RHV, a Minor Illness Specialist and Family Planning Trained.


Nurse Clare Martin

One of our practice nurses is available by appointment every morning and most afternoons. They are able to give advice on smoking, diet, exercise and immunisation, in addition to screening for raised blood pressure, contraceptive advice and reviews, well woman/well man reviews, wound care, ear irrigation and many other aspects. Women are offered cervical smear tests and instruction in breast self-examination. For immunisation and general travel advice, please make an appointment at least six weeks before intended travel.

Ginny and Claire support the GPs and Nurses in routine clinical work including taking bloods, blood pressure and doing routine health checks.
