Repeat Prescriptions

PLEASE NOTE: When registering for online services you must select Bakewell Medical Centre as your GP Surgery.  Tideswell and Bakewell Surgery have now merged into one clinical system.

From the 1st August 2020 we will no longer be taking prescription requests over the telephone.  You will be able to order your prescription in the following ways:

The easiest way to order your medication is through the NHS App.  The NHS app does not require you to contact the practice.  It can be used on a mobile, tablet or desktop computer.

Email - send us an email to

Written - Post or bring your written request to either Bakewell or Tideswell Surgery

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online or posted. they can also be dropped into the post boxes at the surgery.

We would encourage you to use engage consult to order you prescriptions.  The link is available on the online services and the home page.

When ordering repeat prescriptions please ensure that you only ask for precisely what you need - many patients tell us that they need ‘everything’ on their repeat prescription list when this is often not the case. We frequently go into patient’s houses, or sometimes after patients have died, to find vast quantities of medication stockpiled. This is a huge waste of very limited NHS Resources. In North Derbyshire alone, over £1 million of drugs are wasted each year in this way.

Pharmacy 2 You, Med Express, UK Meds, Pharmacy Express and  Pharmacy Direct

The above companies are not connected to us or our doctors in any way. They are simply private companies providing a prescription delivery service.

You may have received a letter containing our name or an NHS logo delivered to your address offering you free medication delivery, again they are not connected to us and you do not have to use them.

We will continue to provide you with the prescription service as we always have and very much appreciate your loyalty.

Bakewell Collection times are currently 8am - 6.00pm.

Tideswell Collection times are currently 8am - 12pm and 1pm - 6.00pm.

Prescriptions or medication can be picked up at the surgery during opening hours or arrangements can be made for prescriptions to go direct to local chemists on a regular basis.

Please be aware that 72 hours' notice is required for us to process prescriptions. This time does not include bank holidays or weekends. If your medication review date has lapsed, processing time may be significantly longer.

We offer the facility to pay by debit card. There is no additional charge for payment for NHS prescriptions.

We are a dispensing practice and are able to provide this service for people who live more than one mile from a pharmacy.

This does not, however, prevent you from using a chemist, but provides the added facility of using the surgery dispensary. If you wish, prescriptions can be sent direct to Tideswell Pharmacy, Boots, or Bakewell Pharmacy.

If you feel that dossett boxes are helpful for yourself or a family member please contact us to see if thsi can be arranged.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to either speak to our Pharmacist, see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
